Preteen and teenage girls looking for something fun to do next month can partake in a “summer jam.”
Leading Ladies will host Summer Jam ’21 on July 17 at Marion Harding High School from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The free event is open to girls and young women in grades 6-12.
The event will consist of “tribe time” where a group of girls in the same grade have 45 minutes to engage in team building activities, said founder Jessica Coleman. Afterwards, the groups will go off into various stations, such as game where everyone writes about their problems on a balloon, and creative stations with hula hoops, blindfolds and mirrors.
“Your tribe is like your family and it will consist of five to 10 girls and then the stations are with 15 to 20 girls,” Coleman said. “You’ll go to different stations throughout the day with your tribe. You’ll get to know your tribe better, but you’ll also get to meet all these different girls and women.”
Summer Jam will also feature pizza, t-shirts and music, Coleman said.
Leading Ladies offers mentorship and guidance to middle school and high school girls in Marion City Schools. The organization received a boost from both a marketing and financial standpoint when it won a $1,000
