Police investigate social media threats to Central High Schools across the country – MassLive.com

A social media posting on Snapchat threatening to “shoot up” Central High School had Springfield police investigating exactly where the Snapchat post came from. As it turns out, so were police in Salina, Kansas, San Angelo, Texas, Natchitoches, Louisiana, Rapid City, South Dakota and finally in St. Joseph, Missouri, where three juvenile suspects were reportedly taken into custody. Apparently, all the listed towns have Central high schools

Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood and Mayor Domenic Sarno issued a press release Saturday assuring students, parents, faculty and staff of local schools that a threatening social media posting was being investigated. Local officials did not specify the content of the threat, the target of the threat or the platform used by the posters.

Clapprood said Sunday morning that local police traced the posting to a Texas town and was apparently reposted to local social media circles.
